Talk show host James Corden has given his verdict on Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK, poking fun at the president’s comments on news topics including Brexit.
Trump spent three days in the UK earlier this week, meeting with numerous members of the royal family and attending various state functions at venues including Buckingham Palace.
Expat James, who now hosts a nightly late show in LA, gave his verdict on Trump’s antics during an interview on Stephen Colbert’s programme.
Kicking things off, James said he’s sure some people thought Trump’s visit was “absolutely right”, describing these individuals as “a very vocal, sort of far-right group of people”.
He continued: “And then there’s probably all the people that I know and all the people, all of the people that I like and respect, are like, ‘What?’ What are you doing here?’.”
And on Trump’s attempts to share his thoughts on Brexit, James said: “I’m like, ‘What is he...?’”
“Up until yesterday, he thought Brexit was the most important meal of the day,” he said. “It’s crazy. It’s madness, all of it.”
James and his family have been based in the US since 2015 but they make frequent trips back.
Last year, he jetted in for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, attending alongside A-listers including George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams and Idris Elba.
He’s also set to return to UK screens this Christmas with a special festive edition of Gavin And Stacey, which is being revived for a one-off episode.
