James Corden showed restraint when he responded to a Game Of Thrones fan who wished cancer on the late-night host’s child.

In his Monday night monologue, the host of The Late Late Show poked fun at President Donald Trump’s trade war with China and included a reference to Sunday’s episode of GOT, in which Daenerys Targaryen unleashed dragon fire on the people of King’s Landing.

Don't worry, everyone! President Trump knows exactly how to get out of this trade war with China... pic.twitter.com/B0LBrxQEbW

One angry viewer believed Corden had aired a spoiler and tweeted:

It’s fucked up you can’t even watch TV without a fat fuck spoiling something… Luckily I got to see it before this, but seriously I hope his kid gets cancer.

James, who is the father of three children, replied:

That is, without question, the single most upsetting thing I think you could ever say about me or my family. Please take a minute and think about what you just wrote and whether you want to be a person who publicly says such things.I believe you’re better than that x

The user, whose account has since been suspended, claimed: “it was a joke.” But James responded again:

Well I saw your hope for my https://t.co/sXNdumvMFm hope for yours is that they never get to read that their mother or father would wish cancer on any child as ‘a joke’.Because however you defend it to them, they’ll never be able to understand how you could do such a thing.Night x

James’ eloquent posts garnered him much support on Twitter:

Good on you, James. You are a better person and I commend you for that. As for the troll behind the @halfbaked6god account, who has apparently already deleted their account from shame and cowardice- grow up. How awful of you.

Heard about the guy saying that and that is just messed up. Like we are fans but it was a comparison that James made and I actually agree with that about the fire part. I would never wish that on even my worst enemy ( let alone children) like come on dude lighten up.

The problem to me is they know there’s another person but since they are hiding behind a computer, they really don’t care what they say. It was despicable, hurtful & should never be allowed ever. Wishing harm to a child over a show spoiler is as low as you can get.

James im gutted you gave this clown airtime, but at the same time glad you exposed him. He will live to regret those worlds one day.

Insane that people can even feel this way ... much less express it like this to a person they do not even know ... I am sorry ... Many many blessings to you and your precious family!!!
