Janette Manrara says she’s waiting to hear from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses about whether she’ll back on the show next year, but has admitted there’s a silver lining if she ends up not being invited back.
The professional ballroom star has appeared on the hit show for the past three series, most recently dancing with Peter Andre, but says that if she doesn’t get a call to return in 2016, she’ll at least be able to plan her wedding to fellow ‘Strictly’ pro Aljaž Škorjanec.
Speaking to Bang Showbiz, she joked: "Let's hope ‘Strictly’ calls me or I'll get more time to plan the wedding and it'll be sooner then."
She continued: “I don't know if I'm returning this year. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed to get ‘Strictly’ again - I'm not even considering anything else at the moment but hopefully I'm there so it won't even have to be something to stress about.”
Already, four of last year’s professional dancers have stepped down from their role on the show, including Ola Jordan, Kristina Rihanoff, Tristan MacManus and reigning ‘Strictly’ champion Aliona Vilani, who became the first dancer ever to win the show twice last December.
Former ‘Strictly pro Vincent Simone also said he’d have no desire to return to the BBC show, which he says has become “too Americanised” in recent years.
Janette and Aljaž announced their engagement in August last year, after he popped the question at the same venue where they’d met five years prior.
He later admitted they won’t be planning an elaborate first dance, insisting: “We try to do that every day at work. so I think our wedding is going to be relaxed. We aren’t show-offs in any way, so we aren’t planning to do some sort of exhibition dance.”
