‘Coronation Street’ bosses have revealed plans to pay tribute to the late Jean Alexander over the festive period.
For 23 years, Jean starred in ‘Corrie’ as Hilda Ogden, one of the most iconic characters ever to grace the cobbles, providing some of the funniest moments in the soap’s 56-year history.
Following her death earlier this year, at the age of 90, it has now been confirmed that producers intend to pay their respects to Jean with her own tribute show, ‘Hilda Ogden’s Last Ta-Ra - A Tribute To Jean Alexander’.
An insider tells The Mirror: “The tribute will be packed full of fun and family humour and the programme is already being filmed and is expected to be a real ratings winner.
The Mirror has claimed that former ‘Corrie’ star Julie Goodyear will appear in the special to share her own memories of Jean, while long-serving soap actor Bill Roache will also pay tribute.
The day after her death in October, ‘Corrie’ dedicated an episode of the soap to her memory, with a message reading “In memory of Jean Alexander 1926-2016” appearing on screen after the credits rolled.
