From the swoop of the hair to the white pocket square, John F. Kennedy had effortlessly classic style down to a tee. His off-duty look, with the Ivy League-ready khakis and crewneck sweatshirts, has been emulated by J. Crew acolytes for decades; but his dashing on-duty style as president is the one seared into the public imagination. He favored gray notch-lapel suits, thin but not too skinny ties and that classy pocket square peeking out from his left chest pocket. But most memorable, perhaps, were his sunglasses, that reminded us that grown-up style needn't be stuffy or uncool.
Today, on the 50th anniversary of his assassination, we're paying homage to our most dapper president.
