Justin Bieber has issued a furious response to fans who have criticised both his marriage and his new wife, Hailey.
The Canadian star married Hailey towards the end of last year, with the two of them giving their first ever joint interview to Vogue magazine last month.
However, it seems not all of Justin’s fans are happy for the newlyweds, with the singer revealing on his Instagram story that both he and Hailey have been bombarded with negative messages, many of them referencing his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
On Monday, he posted a screengrab of an Instagram comment from a user called JaileyIsAJoke, which read: “You are NOT in love with Hailey! You only married her to get back at [Selena Gomez].”
Justin then posted his response on Instagram story, urging his fans to spread the word and “repost [it] everywhere”.
He said: “The fact you have an account dedicated to dissing my wife and I is absolutely absurd why would I dedicate my whole life to someone in marriage to get back at [my] ex? Anyone who believes this is mean-spirited or 10 years old or younger because a logical person doesn’t talk or think this way, [you] should be ashamed of yourself really.”
Referencing his past relationship with Selena, Justin noted: “I absolutely loved and love Selena she will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me period.”
Justin concluded: “I’ve seen multiple people say things like this and I will never respond again to a message like this because I don’t like to even give it my energy but this is a reply to all the immature sick people who send Hailey hurtful messages like ‘he always goes back to Selena’ or ‘Selena is better for him’...”
Earlier this year, Justin revealed that he would not be returning to music until he’d dealt with “deep-rooted issues”, adding that he wants to focus on “sustaining his marriage” and becoming “the father he wants to be”.
His last album, Purpose, was released in 2015, with Justin admitting that the tour that followed it was a particularly difficult time in personal life.
During his Vogue interview, published in February, Justin spoke candidly for the first time about his past dependency on the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, as well as what he described as his “legitimate problem with sex”.
