Some rather confusing celebrity cage-fighting news now, as Justin Bieber has publicly challenged actor Tom Cruise to a match.

Allow us to explain as best we can…

In the early hours of Monday morning, for reasons no one seems to be able to piece together, the Canadian star publicly tweeted to tell Tom Cruise that he wants to take him on in a cage-fight.

The Biebs tagged Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White in his post, asking whether he’d be willing to put the fight.

Former champion Conor McGregor then get involved, quoting Justin’s tweet and adding: “If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout.

“Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”

It remains unclear what pushed Justin Bieber to publicly approach Tom Cruise for a cage-fight, but we’ve contacted representatives for both stars, in the hope they can shed a little more light on the situation.

Potential A-list cage-fights aside, 2019 is shaping up to be a big year for Justin, who is currently riding high at the top of the UK singles charts with his Ed Sheeran collaboration I Don’t Care.

In the lead-up to his return to the music scene, he made an impromptu guest appearance during Ariana Grande’s Coachella set, though this was met with a mixed response and accusations of lip syncing.
