New details about the upcoming ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ prequel have been revealed, as it’s been confirmed that comedian Kerry Howard will play the young Hyacinth Bucket.
The one-off special is being made as part of BBC1’s landmark sitcom season, and quite frankly, we can’t wait to see Kerry in the show.
The exciting news has been confirmed by Radio Times, and Kerry tells the website: "It's a role of a lifetime. It's so different. It's really exciting."
She goes on to discuss her love of Patricia Routledge, who played the snotty Hyacinth for five years, after making her debut as the character in 1990.
"She taught me about how you use your face, about intonation, about how your body embodies a gag,” Kerry says. "She's totally uncensored. She's going for the gag in every sense.
There’s no word yet on when the show will air, but filming begins this week.
TV fans will recognise Kerry from ‘Him And Her’, in which she played the formidable Laura.
She’s also appeared in ‘Doc Martin’, and on ‘Drunk History'.
