'SVU' Tackles 'Legitimate Rape' With 'Homeland,' 'Walking Dead' Stars

"Law & Order: SVU" is tackling the "legitimate rape" controversy with the help of "The Walking Dead" and "Homeland" actors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Walking Dead" actress Lauren Cohan will play Avery Jordan, a sports reporter who accuses her cameraman of raping her. The character learns she is pregnant and decides to keep the baby. "Homeland" actor David Marciano will play the accused rapist cameraman, THR reports.

The episode is set to air in late March and tackle the "legitimate rape" firestorm ignited by Todd Akin during the 2012 election.

In other casting news ...

"Ally McBeal" veteran Greg Germann will guest star on "Law & Order: SVU."
Germann will play Derek Strauss, the attorney who prosecutes the rape case against Cassidy (Dean Winters). [Give Me My Remote]

Rachelle Lefevre will star in "Under the Dome." Lefevre, a veteran of "Twilight" and "Off The Map," will play Julia, an investigative reporter. [EW]
