Glastonbury 2019: Lewis Capaldi Laughs Off Noel Gallagher 'Feud' As He Makes Memorable Entrance

Lewis Capaldi found the perfect way to get his own back on Noel Gallagher at Glastonbury this weekend, following the former Oasis singer’s disparaging comments about him in the media.

Earlier this week, Lewis joked that his career had peaked after Noel remarked during an interview on Radio X: “Music is fucking wank at the moment. Who’s this Capaldi fella… who the fuck’s that idiot?”

On Saturday afternoon, Lewis proved just how unbothered he was at Noel’s jibes, by opening his set on the Pyramid Stage with a video clip of the interview in question.

He then walked on stage dressed in one of Oasis’ signature 1990s looks, before taking off his coat to reveal Noel’s face in a heart on his t-shirt.

Lewis even posed for a photo with Liam Gallagher – who has had his own well-documented feud with his brother – backstage…

And while Lewis’ entrance won over the crowd, viewers watching at home were similarly impressed with the set itself, compiled of tracks from his recent chart-topping debut album…

This is absolutely unreal. Taking a negative comment and spinning it on its head for your biggest performance to date? Well in @LewisCapaldi https://t.co/Z3Sra3zji8

Lewis Capaldi's commitment to mocking Noel Gallagher by turning up to do his Glastonbury set in a parka and bucket hat on the hottest day of the year is the level of pettiness I aspire to. It's an hour to be alive at the same time as this icon. The hero we all need 💜 pic.twitter.com/KlYVk9BBYo

Lewis’ performance on the Pyramid Stage was his second Glastonbury performance of the weekend, having previously done a packed surprise set on a smaller stage a day earlier.

Not bad for an artist who’s only on their debut album, eh?

So far, 2019 has been a huge year for Lewis, topping both the UK singles and albums chart with Someone You Loved and Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, the longest-running number one album of the year at the time of writing.
