Lewis Capaldi Laughs Off Noel Gallagher's 'Chewbacca' Jibes

Yep, the former Oasis singer isn't quite done going in on Lewis Capaldi.

As he continues his evolution into your grumpy uncle that won’t give a listen to anything released after the turn of the millennium, Noel Gallagher has doubled down on his criticisms of singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi.

Music fans may recall that Noel made headlines last month when he articulately branded music in 2019 “fucking wank”, specifically saying of chart-topping singer Lewis: “Who the fuck’s that idiot?”

Lewis seemed particularly unbothered at the time, suggesting being “slagged off” by the former Oasis singer was a career “peak”.

He later came out on the Pyramid Stage on Glastonbury dressed as Noel, sporting a t-shirt with his face in a heart, and posing for a photo backstage with his brother and former Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher.

However, it seems Noel is not done sticking the boot in, suggesting the Someone You Loved singer should “enjoy his 15 minutes” and comparing him to Chewbacca.

The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot,” Noel told Variety. “It’s the greatest day of his fucking life so far. He’s just thinking, ‘Wow!’”

We reckon he was potentially being ironic when he said that, Noel. Lewis has after all had a chart-topping single and album in 2019, not to mention a Glastonbury Pyrmaid Stage performance and Brit Award nomination.

“Well, I know you’re Scottish and all that, but fucking hell! It is like a third world country,” Noel added, honing in on the entire of Scotland for literally no reason. “But for fuck‘s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely!”

Lewis’ response was simply the following…

Then again, he has got an upcoming arena tour – that sold out in 10 minutes, no less – to put his energy into, so there’s every chance he was a little too busy to put a comeback together.

Lewis previously revealed these live shows will include special measures so that his fans with anxiety can also enjoy the concerts, which will be held around the UK and Ireland.
