Lilly Allen has responded to claims she collapsed after binge drinking at Notting Hill Carnival, after pictures of her were published in The Sun showing her being carried over the shoulder of her boyfriend.

The paper had claimed the ‘Smile’ singer passed out after partying at the London event over the weekend, with snaps appearing to show her taking swigs from various different drinks, before being carried by lover MC Meridian Dan.

However, Lily has now taken to Twitter after she was approached for comment on the pictures, insisting only had two drinks and is “just a lightweight”.

Writing on the social media site, she said: “Truth is I’m just a lightweight, I had 2 cans of strongbow on an empty stomach. I’m here now and I’m absolutely fine.”

She’d earlier shared an image of herself at the carnival, writing: “Nothing to see here.”

It is not the first time Lily has been forced to speak out after concerning images were published of her.

A spokesperson for the star insisted she was “fine” after she was pictured seemingly passed out on the grass in the VIP section of Glastonbury last year.

Lily has made headlines on a number of occasions in recent months, having provided political commentary in the wake of Britain’s decision to leave the EU.

She hit out at Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Twitter, and also called Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt an “insidious prick”.
