Line Of Duty Fans Point Out Hastings' Unfortunate Dubbing Fail In Latest Episode

Fortunately, it didn't seem to affect their enjoyment of the episode.

Line Of Duty fans spotted an unfortunate dubbing error in Sunday night’s episode.

The most recent instalment of the BBC police drama was a particularly eventful one, largely thanks to the… actually, we’ll hold off talking about that for now, in case you haven’t had the chance to watch it.

Trust us when we say, there was a big old twist, though.

However, away from the main action, one thing that had a fair few viewers talking was a less-than-subtle redub that fell slap-bang in the middle of the episode.

When speaking to DI Fleming, Hastings was heard declaring that they were dealing with someone who “is responsible for killing five police offices”, though that’s not quite what his lips said, as many on Twitter pointed out...

He definitely said “four” and they dubbed over it to make him say “Five” rather than reshoot the whole scene, “DEFINATELY” #LineOfDuty pic.twitter.com/OVXOTZIBPL

Anyone else spotted the overdub around 41 mins in when Hastings says "five" but his mouth says "four"? #LineOfDuty

#lineofduty Hastings mouthed ‘four’ when talking to Fleming about how many officers Corbett had killed. The word was dubbed over with ‘five’: pointless spot I know...

Anyone notice the overdub on #LineOfDuty tonight? Hastings mouth clearly said Corbett had killed four officers but dubbed to say five!

Line Of Duty returned for its fifth series at the end of last month, after a two-year absence.

While regulars like Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar returned for the new episodes, This Is England actor Stephen Graham also joined the action as newcomer John Corbett.

During Line Of Duty’s absence, the show’s creator Jed Mercurio has enjoyed huge success with his hit series Bodyguard, which went on to be recognised at the Golden Globes in January, after making a splash on Netflix in the US, as well as at the upcoming TV Baftas.

Line Of Duty returns for a brand new instalment on BBC One this Sunday night, but if you can’t wait until then, read our burning questions review of episode four.
