Little Mix had to carry on as a three-piece on Wednesday (19 October) night, when Jade Thirlwall was forced to miss a public appearance due to “family problems”.
The group were due to appear on ‘The One Show’ to promote their new single, ‘Shout Out To My Ex’, which they debuted on ‘The X Factor’ over the weekend.
However, it was quickly noted that they were a member down, with Jesy Nelson explaining that Jade had “had a few family problems” so was unable to join the rest of the group for the interview.
During the chat, they spoke about their close friendship, with Jesy revealing: “We’ve heard horror stories about other bands - I can’t actually say [who] - but genuinely, the more the years are going on, the stronger our bond is. And we’re just absolutely loving life.”
Jesy also revealed that “most” of the group’s ideas for song lyrics come from “personal experiences”, adding fuel to the fire that their new single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ details Perrie Edwards’ much-publicised split from her ex-fiancé Zayn Malik.
During the track, she’s heard describing an ex’s new romance, singing: “Hope she’s getting better sex, hope she ain’t faking it like I did.”
This isn’t the first time that Little Mix have had to soldier on without one of their bandmates, with Jesy previously having to miss a promotional tour in Asia last year, pulling out at the eleventh hour after being diagnosed with a “horrid” ear infection.
It’s not just a new single and album the girls have in the pipeline, though - they’ve also published a new book ‘Our World’, which has seen both Jade and Perrie making bold admissions about their personal lives.
