Hold on a moment. Just let me brush away these cobwebs. Oh, and do watch out for that virtual tumbleweed rolling through here.
It's been a while hasn't it?
I started this blog when I had just turned 20, with the intention of writing and completing my Twenty Things to do While 20 bucket list. I am now a 21-year-old journalism graduate with a 2:1, and a job in social media. But rather than completely leave journalism and writing aside, I want to throw myself into various projects to keep up my writing, as it's what I love to do. This blog is getting a much-needed update, and I'll be posting on it more frequently.
I want to write about life after graduation, and what it's like entering the 'real' working world. But I didn't want to forget the reason I started posting on here in the first place, and I am determined to complete my bucket list.
Just a reminder, here's the full list:
1. Try coffee - completed
2. Go on a road trip
3. Glastonbury - completed (I've now been twice)
4. Stay up all night and watch the sun rise - completed
5. Hot air balloon ride was changed to try online dating - completed
6. Volunteer work
7. Read more 'classic' books
8. Start writing a book that I intend to finish
9. Go out for breakfast - completed
10. Travel somewhere I've never been to before (within Europe)
11. Make a roast dinner. Including a joint of meat, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, parsnips, and peas - completed
12. Learn how to play a song on the ukulele
13. Upload videos to YouTube - completed
14. Try sushi
15. Learn to knit
16. Begin regular exercise
17. Say yes to everything for a day
18. An all-day movie marathon - completed
19. Go to the theatre - completed
20. Is a surprise that I will let you know once completed
I'm thinking since I'm now 21, maybe I should add an extra one. What do you think I should do?
The ones with completed next to them have blog posts written about them already. But I am pleased to announce I can tick a few more off.
I have travelled to multiple European destinations. This summer I started up my own travel blog. So you can read about those adventures here
Excitingly, I can also say that I have started writing a book. I have wanted to be an author since I can remember. A stand-out attempt was when I was 7, I wrote a story which explored the primary school equivalent of Hogwarts - Junior Stars. Harry Potter's little sister, Tina (named after my favourite member of S Club 7) attended there. It was 30 pages of writing gold, with just a little bit of copyright issues. Sadly, I don't think counts as a full-on, proper, book.
Over the years I have had an ideas - original ones this time - written a few starting pages, but never got further than that. But this one feels different. I am excited to write it, and bits of the character's conversation keep coming into my mind. Perhaps I'll tick that one off the list once I've actually written a chapter. Nonetheless, it does feel pretty great to say: "I'm writing a book."
I have also been reading for pleasure more since finishing university. And I made an attempt at Dickens, keeping in mind I wanted to read more 'classic' books. But I might open this up as just to read more. Do you have any book recommendations for me?
I have to end this on a bit of a cheesy note: .thank you for sticking with me so far, and hopefully you'll be around for the next chapter.
