Louis Tomlinson has hit back at a report about the break-up of One Direction, which was published to coincide with the ninth anniversary of the group being formed.
The singer tweeted a screengrab of a story which included the headline: “Drugs, meltdowns and ‘gay sex’ rumours – how ‘rivalry and hatred’ tore One Direction apart.”
Keen to pour cold water on the claims, Louis labelled the article the “biggest load of bullshit I’ve seen in a while”.
Hitting out at the outlet that published the story, he added: “Typical unprovoked venom from The Mirror. Couldn’t be further from the truth!”
The day before, Louis had joined fans in celebrating the special anniversary, tweeting: “So many incredible memories. Days like today are days for reflection, so proud looking back!
“Thank you for ALWAYS having our backs! Big love to the lads!”
His former bandmate Liam Payne also thanked Directioners, calling them “truly the best fans in the world”.
“Amazing to look back at all the memories and even now you got us trending worldwide after 9 years,” he said.
It’s been three years since 1D began their “indefinite hiatus”, with each of them going on to pursue solo careers.
Niall Horan and Liam have stuck to music, with the former scoring number three in the UK Album Chart with his debut solo effort.
Meanwhile, Louis made a return to our TV screens in 2018, returning to where it all began by joining the X Factor judging panel, and Harry Styles made his film debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
Zayn Malik, who left the band in 2015, released his second studio album in December last year.
