Louise Redknapp has spoken out about some of the criticism she received about the revealing outfit she wore in a recent music video.
Earlier this year, Louise returned to the pop scene after almost two decades away, with comeback single Stretch.
Speaking on the Official Charts: Take The Hit podcast, Louise discussed the track’s “sexy but still quite funky” music video, and some of the criticisms she faced about her appearance in it.
“I knew it would divide opinion, the look of it,” she said. “[I knew] people would either love it or say, ‘She should be wearing more clothes, she shouldn’t be so sexy, she’s a mum’ etc.
“But I know where my boundaries and lines are and I think it looks sporty and cool.”
Stretch is the lead single from Louise’s upcoming album Heavy Love, which will be released in October, and also features the Clean Bandit collaboration Lead Me On.
The album reportedly features tracks which reference her split from her husband of 19 years, Jamie Redknapp, who she divorced in 2017.
Louise recently spoke out about some of the media fallout which came after the split, calling out the media for the “double-standards” she faced.
She said: “I was heavily judged. I was really shocked by how people would just make assumptions.
“I did notice real double-standards… I was like: ‘Well, hang on a minute. I’ve done this for the last 15 years and no one has ever patted me on the back.’”
