Curtis Pritchard has hit back at claims that he was unfaithful to his girlfriend and former Love Island co-star Maura Higgins.
Since leaving the villa last summer, the pair have pursued a romance away from the show, making time for when another when the Irish former Islander is in the UK.
However, over the weekend it was suggested that Curtis had been unfaithful to her, after grainy footage was published online apparently showing him embracing another woman on New Year’s Eve.
On Monday, Curtis set the record straight, telling Lorraine Kelly on her ITV daytime show: “[The] New Year photo is nonsense... you can’t hug somebody or talk to somebody in this day and age without something coming out.”
He added: “Me and Maura are completely fine.”
Curtis also pointed out that he’d been in the audience on Sunday night when Maura made her debut on Dancing On Ice, skating through to the next round of the competition after her first routine with partner Alexander Demetriou.
“I’ve watched AJ [Pritchard, his brother] doing Strictly Come Dancing so many times, but I got more nervous watching Maura on this because I was thinking, one little slip and that’s it, you could be out of the competition,” he explained.
“She’s her biggest critic, she wants to be so good. She wants to be perfect.”
Of last year’s Love Island contestants, Curtis and Maura are among the few to still be in a relationship, as are influencer Molly-Mae Hague and boxer Tommy Fury.
The new series of Love Island launched on Sunday, and continues every night on ITV2. Meanwhile, Lorraine airs every weekday from 9am.
