Former Love Islander Joanna Chimonides has admitted she found it “hard to watch” Michael Griffiths declare his feelings for Amber Gill in last night’s episode.

Joanna was voted off the ITV2 reality show earlier this week, having been coupled up with Michael.

Wednesday night’s episode saw Michael admit to the boys that he still had feelings for Amber, also describing Joanna as “stand-offish”.

Responding to the dramatic developments in the villa, Joanna insisted she was showing “respect” for Amber when she got together with Michael, after he had ditched the beauty therapist during the Casa Amor twist.

Speaking on her Instagram Story, she said: “So obviously I’ve had to just pause the TV purely because for me being stand-offish is more me having respect for those in in the villa because someone else is hurting in there.

“It’s hard for me to watch this right now, I’m not gonna lie.“

She later added: “That was so hard for me to watch and right now I just don’t have any words. It’s so difficult.”

During last night’s episode, Michael did a U-turn on Amber, just days after insisting he had no residual feelings towards her.

He said: “Now Joanna has gone it’s given me time to think about things, and I realise I do like Amber.

“I feel like I need to do myself a favour and let her know.”

Speaking to Belle Hassan about Joanna, Michael said: “She was standoffish. It was always me coming to chill with her. That’s what I’m thinking now.”

Michael apologised to Amber earlier this week after he demanded she “sit down” before a chat, claiming he was “taking out his frustration” on her.

He said: “When I came over and told you to sit down, it was because you had been wearing heels all night and I didn’t want you to walk anywhere else. I am apologising if it came across in a bad way.“

She replied: “I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly. I knew you before and you never spoke to me in a way that made me feel upset.”

The way Michael spoke to Amber has attracted over 150 complaints to TV watchdog Ofcom, who are currently deciding whether to investigate the matter.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
