Ofcom have announced that they are launching an investigation, following a sex scene on ITV2’s ‘Love Island’.
The most recent series of the reality show saw a number of its contestants getting up to all manner of sexual shenanigans, however, it’s a scene involving former contestants Terry Walsh and Emma-Jane Woodham that is now under scrutiny.
As ‘Love Island’ fans will recall, when Emma-Jane arrived on the scene, Terry was enamoured pretty quickly, with the two wasting no time in sealing the deal, in full view of the rest of their fellow contestants.
The pair’s rendez-vous raised eyebrows among their fellow contestants, and had a similar reaction on the outside, with eight viewers complaining to Ofcom, who are now launching an investigation.
A spokesperson for the media watchdog says: “This programme included sexual material shortly after the watershed. We’re investigating whether the transition to more adult content was unduly abrupt.”
The frisson was particularly noteworthy as just days prior, Terry had said he was planning to walk away from the show completely, following the surprise elimination of Malin Andersson, with whom he’d partnered until her exit.
Despite saying he’d see her on the outside, Terry’s head was quickly turned when Emma arrived, and the two wound up sharing a smooch after a romantic date.
Things soon heated up between them when they spent their first night together in the ‘Love Island’ bedroom, with their fellow contestants voicing their shock as they looked on, due to the fact Emma had previously been fairly adamant that she wouldn’t be getting physical in the villa.
Malin, meanwhile, was left voicing her disapproval on social media, as she watched the whole debacle unfold back at home.
