ITV has confirmed that Sherif Lanre won’t join the rest of the Love Island cast for this year’s reunion episode, which airs on Sunday night.
The 20-year-old left the series via the backdoor, with the broadcaster stating that the decision had been a mutual one.
But in a tell-all interview, Sherif later claimed he was pulled aside by producers after “accidentally” kicking a female Islander in the groin and making a joke about it being a “cunt-punt”.
On Friday morning, the Sun reported that Sherif has been “banned” from the Aftersun reunion, with a representative for the former Islander telling the paper: “It would of been nice for Sherif to see his friends at the reunion its a shame ITV feel this strongly against him attending.”
A Love Island spokesperson subsequently told HuffPost UK: “Sherif left this series of Love Island by mutual agreement after breaking the rules and there are no plans for him to appear at this weekend’s Aftersun Reunion.”
After his exit, the series continued as normal without Sherif, while Anna Vakili, who he had been coupled up with, went on to find (short-lived) romance with Jordan Hames.
Sherif’s Instagram reveals that he’s enjoyed a number of holidays since the show but it seems he hasn’t reunited with anyone form the programme.
The finalists all made their way back to the UK on Wednesday, following Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea’s victory in Monday’s final.
The couple beat favourites Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague to the £50,000 prize but there’s still plenty of cash to be had, thanks to brand sponsorships and payouts for club appearances.
Love Island Aftersun: The Reunion airs on ITV2 at 9pm on Sunday.
