Euphoria star Lukas Gage has shared the moment a director insulted his home during a Zoom audition - without realising he wasn’t on mute.
As the actor joins the call to perform a scene, a male director can be heard telling someone else on the video call: “These poor people live in these tiny apartments. Like I’m looking at his background, and he’s got his TV and you know...”
The wincing star replies: “Yeah, unmuted.”
He adds: “I know, it’s a shitty apartment. That’s why give me this job, so I can get a better one!”
Cue a whole load of backpedaling and apologising from the unknown director when he realises his mistake.
“Oh my God, I’m so, so sorry,” he tells him. “I’m mortified.”
Lukas later posted the video to his Twitter and Instagram accounts with the note: “psa: If you’re a shit talking director make sure to mute ur shit on zoom meetings.”
After he shared the clip, the 25-year-old, who plays Tyler in Euphoria, received support from fellow actors, including Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville and Glee actor Kevin McHale.
Mad Men star January Jones commented: “Classy response Lukas. DM me who it was so I can make note not to ever work with that person.”
Lukas has so far declined to name the director, who spoke with an English accent.
