Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty has announced she is to appear in an upcoming Riverdale episode, which will pay tribute to her former co-star Luke Perry.
Shannen was among the first high-profile stars to pay their respects to Luke back in March, when the news broke that he had died at the age of 52, after suffering a stroke.
It’s now been revealed that she is to make a guest appearance in Riverdale, in an episode which will see the rest of the show’s cast paying their respects.
“I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale,” she wrote on Instagram, where she also shared a picture of herself with Luke. “The care in which this show takes in honouring his memory is beautiful.
“He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”
Luke originally found fame alongside Shannen in Beverly Hills, 90210, but since won a legion of new fans when he joined the cast of Riverdale, which airs on Netflix here in the UK.
In the Archie Comics adaptation, Luke starred as Fred Andrews, the father of the show’s main protagonist Archie, played by KJ Apa.
On the same day that Luke was first hospitalised earlier this year, it had been announced that a rebooted version of Beverly Hills, 90210 was in the works, almost 20 years after it was last on the air.
However, while a number of Luke’s former co-stars have signed onto the project, including Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling, was reported Luke had declined to take part.
