Cast your mind back to the Brit Awards 2015, and of course you’ll remember Madonna’s now iconic journey down a set of stairs after a dancer yanked at a cape tied round her neck during a live performance.
With the memory still emblazoned in the memory of the British public four years on, history was in danger of repeating itself as she appeared at Eurovision on Saturday night.
That’s because the the Queen Of Pop seemingly hadn’t learned her lesson after the unfortunate gaffe, putting on a performance that featured - you guessed it - stairs and a cape.
Eurovision fans were on the edge of their seats as Madge performed her classic hit Like A Prayer and new song Future during the interval of the Song Contest, worried that she was about to suffer another fall...
Luckily for Madge, she made it through the 10-minute performance unscathed - at least physically anyway, as people weren’t exactly overwhelmed with her efforts...
Madonna was highly criticised for agreeing to perform at Eurovision, which this year was held in Tel Aviv in Israel.
Many claimed she should not have signed up to the slot given the current political situation between Israel and Palestine.
However, she used the performance to make a huge statement, ending it by showing two dancers wearing Israel and Palestine flags walking with their arms around each other into the distance.
The words “Wake Up” then appeared on the screen behind her.
Madonna previously brushed off the controversy surrounding her performance, telling Reuters: “I’ll never stop playing music to suit someone’s political agenda nor will I stop speaking out against violations of human rights wherever in the world they may be.
“My heart breaks every time I hear about the innocent lives that are lost in this region and the violence that is so often perpetuated to suit the political goals of people who benefit from this ancient conflict.
“I hope and pray that we will soon break free from this terrible cycle of destruction and create a new path towards peace,” she added.
