A 37-year-old man has been arrested after a van collided with a queue of people waiting outside a foodbank.
The incident happened outside Kirk Hallam Community Hall in Kenilworth Drive, Kirk Hallam, at around 9am on Friday morning.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “Three people were treated for injuries at the scene, two are described as having serious but not life-threatening injuries and one minor.
“An investigation is in its early stages and enquiries are ongoing.”
At midday the force announced a man from Long Eaton had been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the incident.
A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service added that a fourth person had been hospitalised.
Staff at the community hall confirmed to Derbyshire Live that those who were injured were waiting to enter a foodbank.
Craig Morris, who works nearby, told the newspaper: “It looks like the vehicle has hit someone before it hit the building, and that person went flying through the air maybe five or six metres onto the floor of the carpark.
“That’s where the panic and screaming started.”
