Former Love Island star Marcel Somerville has revealed he “nearly died”, in a video he shared after being admitted to hospital.
The former Blazin’ Squad member shared a short message from his NHS bed, and while he did not go into detail about his illness, he thanked those that had sent him messages of support.
“This is just a message to everyone that has been sending me all the prayers and blessings,” he said. “They don’t go amiss, I really appreciate them. I really need them right now.”
He continued: “It’s been a very, very hard few days for me… Saturday was literally the worst day of my life, I nearly died. But yeah… just keep sending them my way because I need them. Thank you so much. Big love.”
Marcel also posted a photo of his arm with the message: “All the wires.”
A representative for Marcel had no further comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
Marcel is now best known for having been a contestant on the third series of Love Island in 2017, but was also previously a member of the band Blazin’ Squad.
He spent the majority of his time in the villa coupled up with Gabrielle Allen, and although the two remained a couple when they returned to the UK, they eventually split in 2018.
Love Island aired its first ever winter series in January, and was supposed to return for a second run in 2020 this summer, but these plans were scuppered due to coronavirus restrictions.
