Margaret Thatcher may have been Britain's Iron Lady, but we remember Thatcher best for her inimitable style. Most iconic was her handbag, whose classic shape is worth nearly $40,000 in the eyes (and on the arms) of her biggest fans.
The Telegraph reports that sales for Maggie's Launer London bag have more than doubled since her death on April 8, rising a whopping 53 percent. The brand's "Bellini" and "Adagio" models in particular have seen a dramatic uptick in sales, which reached their highest peaks the evening her death was announced and the morning of her funeral.
Launer's legion of royal fans includes Queen Elizabeth, who carried the same style during the royal wedding. These purses are investment pieces for sure, meaning that their bearers will likely keep them in rotation for just as long as Maggie did. If this spike in sales isn't proof that Baroness Thatcher's style legacy will live on, we don't know what is.
