Mariah Carey Shades Donald Trump As She Posts Hillary Clinton Photo On Twitter

The Grammy-winning star referred to "President Clinton" as she shared a photo of Trump's former political opponent on Twitter.

Mariah Carey has thrown some subtle shade in the direction of US president Donald Trump, after posing for a photo with his former political opponent Hillary Clinton.

The music icon and former presidential candidate were among the guests at Barbra Streisandā€™s show at New Yorkā€™s Madison Square Garden on Monday night, with Mariah sharing some backstage snaps on her Twitter page.

And while she didnā€™t make Trump by name, it certainly didnā€™t take a detective to work out who she was taking a dig at when she shared a photo of herself and Hillary Clinton, along with the message: ā€œAn honor to meet President Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton!ā€

Next to a smiling emoji, Mariah added: ā€œThank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our country.ā€

In the run-up to the 2016 election, Mariah declined to comment on who she was backing for president during an interview with Sky News, insisting: ā€œI donā€™t feel like itā€™s appropriate for me to go on and on on a tangent because Iā€™m just an entertainer. Iā€™m not a political analyst.ā€

However, she did say reveal she is a ā€œfanā€ of Hillary and ā€œwould love to see a woman presidentā€.

When asked for her opinion on Trump, she said in typical Mariah fashion: ā€œI would like to abstain from that question.ā€

Mariahā€™s comments about Trump follow Rihannaā€™s Instagram post on Monday, in which she lambasted the current US president for his comments in the wake of three mass shootings in America.

Specifically, the Umbrella singer called Trump out for failing to refer to the shootings as ā€œterrorismā€.
