Matt Lucas Ruthlessly Mocks Boris Johnson’s Lockdown Plan Following PM’s Coronavirus Update

Boris Johnson laid out his plans to ease the coronavirus lockdown on Sunday night, but left most of us scratching our heads.

It took the prime minister ten minutes to tell us we could exercise as often as we wanted and that those who couldn’t work from home should head back to the grind today (we think).

However, it took Matt Lucas just 18 seconds to sum up what we were all feeling.

The Little Britain star shared a clip of him doing a (really rather good) impersonation of Boris following his speech.

“So, we are saying don’t go to work, go to work, don’t take public transport, go to work, don’t go to work,” Matt begins.

“Stay indoors. If you can work from home go to work, don’t go to work, go outside, don’t go outside.

“And then we will or won’t, something or other.”

Yeah, us neither, Matt.

Someone else who wasn’t impressed with Boris’s latest address to the nation was Piers Morgan, who took to Twitter immediately after the PM’s televised speech.

“So disingenuous,” the Good Morning Britain host tweeted.

“The Prime Minister changed UK strategy after he was told the herd immunity policy he’d been pursuing for weeks would lead to 500k deaths.

“How many died unnecessarily before he U-turned to the way everyone else was already doing it?

“So nothing’s really changed then. Total waste of time.”

So, the Prime Minister is urging millions of non-essential workers to go out to work - but also telling people we still can’t see family or friends even if we maintain the same social distancing rules as non-essential workers at work?
Makes no sense.

Jonathan Ross echoed Piers’ feelings, tweeting: “I rarely comment on politics here, and avoid publicly siding with one party (all pretty useless at the moment) because no one should give a shit about celebs opinions.

“But it’s hard to imagine a greater display of inept leadership and muddled thinking then Boris just displayed.”
