Mel and Sue are to ‘The Great British Bake Off’ what yeast is to a perfect loaf, quite frankly.
OK, so terrible analogies aside (when was the last time a sliced Granary had you tittering?), the news that the presenting duo have quit the BBC show after it was announced that it is set to move to Channel 4 has not gone down well with viewers.
It’s hard to imagine anyone else injecting the same level of warmth, love and well, silliness into the show when it eventually nestles into its new home.
And then there’s the innuendos, of course.
Imagine Davina McCall delivering a line about hot baps. Seeeee? Just… no.
So as we make the most of Mel and Sue’s final tenure at the helm of the current series of ‘Bake Off’, let’s remind ourselves why nobody will ever come close to replacing them…
They’re basically still big kids to the core
REALLY big kids...
Puerile, in fact...

Not to mention a very bad influence...

They’re masters of the ‘knowing look’...

And a terrible pun...

Or two...

Or three...

They’re always willing to lend a helping hand (or two)...

And know when to exercise some tough love...

They’re not afraid to say what they see...

Ahem...

But are sometimes more ‘wit’ than ‘wisdom’...

And boy, do they have a sweet tooth...

And above anything else, they give us all #friendshipgoals.
