We never would have had Meryl Streep down as a fan of British daytime TV, but the Oscar-winning actress can’t get enough of it.
During an appearance on Friday’s (15 April) ‘The Graham Norton Show’, the 66-year-old star admitted she loves nothing better than settling down in front of ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ or ‘Come Dine With Me’.
“I’m addicted to everything where they do real estate,” she says. “I love Grand Designs and Homes Under the Hammer. Also Come Dine With Me is fabulous.”
Amazing.
We’re crossing EVERYTHING that she agrees to take part in the next celebrity special of the Channel 4 dinner party show.
Just imagine… Meryl cooking for the creme de la creme of the British acting world. We’re thinking Leslie Joseph, Angela Griffin and Adam Woodyatt.
During the chat with Graham, Meryl also revealed that it wasn’t until 30 years into her career, when she starred in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, that she started really getting recognised.
“There was a change that happened after The Devil Wears Prada and Mamma Mia and the sky came down on me,” she explains. “I used to be able to float about between characters and somehow things changed.
“Everything was much bigger and I became a celebrity rather than an actress – there’s a difference. Everyone is really kind but it just gives you hyper self-awareness, which is not the greatest thing.”
