Michelle Obama Returns In A Printed Dress, Kitten Heels (PHOTOS)

Kicking it stateside.

While her husband is off taking fashion risks in Cambodia, Michelle Obama is keeping things much more down to earth back home in Washington.

The first lady got dressed up for one of her first post-election appearances to present national arts and humanities awards to 12 after-school programs that benefit underserved schools and youth.

"I know that many of you who are here today, you make all this happen on shoestring budgets; you do it in unbelievable ways, in some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable," she told the audience gathered in the East Room at the White House, "and I know that you put a lot of late nights and long hours in to give these kids opportunities worthy of their promise. But you keep on doing this year after year because you have seen firsthand the transformative power of the arts and arts education in the lives of young people across this country."

We also want to pay a more superficial tribute to Mrs. O's outfit: a bold printed wrap dress that's a Zero + Maria Cornejo repeat. We also spy her fave Alaia belt, and... what's that on her feet? Pointed ankle strap heels? Kitten heels are her signature -- but we really dig this pair.
