Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood has revealed bandmate Mick Jagger is recovering well after undergoing heart surgery.
Last month, the band was forced to postpone its upcoming US tour, after frontman Mick was urged by doctors to rest up following his procedure.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Ronnie said his 75-year-old bandmate was doing well, revealing that he and Keith Richards have done their bit to keep his spirits up.
Ronnie explained: “Sally [Ronnie’s wife] and I went on a break to the Caribbean with Keith and Patti [Keith’s wife] and sent [Mick] videos of us playing and singing get well songs on the guitar.
“That cracked him up. We’re all so pleased that he’s doing well.”
He added: “He is doing really well. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s feeling great.”
Shortly after it was announced that the Stones would have to postpone their US live shows, Mick sent out a tweet which read: “I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”
However, tour organisers have since suggested it may take up to a year to reschedule the dates in question.
In recent years, Ronnie has had his own health concerns, after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017.
After going public with his diagnosis, Ronnie revealed that because doctors had caught his tumour early, he was “OK now”, although he will have to have check-ups every three months to ensure it doesn’t return.
“Someone up there must like me,” he joked at the time.
