Mike Tyson has explained his groggy appearance on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, assuring fans he is fine.
The boxing star left some viewers of the ITV breakfast show concerned after he was interviewed by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, and appeared to have a problem with his speech.
However, Mike revealed he was simply tired after falling asleep while trying to stay up for the chat, which took place very late at night for the US-based star.
Taking to Twitter, he said: “Hey mate @piersmorgan @GMB @susannareid100 and UK. I tried to stay up late for interview but fell asleep and like a lion I’m hard to wake once asleep. Training hard and going to bed early.
“I had no monitor so I couldn’t see you guys and forgot to look into camera.”
Piers quickly replied to his tweet, writing: “No problem, Champ. We could see you were a bit weary! It was very late in LA.
“Appreciate this message as some viewers were concerned.”
Mike appeared on the show to discuss his decision to come out of retirement for a fight with Roy Jones Junior.
He said: “I just want to do this, I plan on doing this for a charity exponent and I think I am capable of doing that, and that’s what I want to do.”
Piers asked: “How do you feel, are you in the kind of nick you were in 15 years ago?”
Mike replied: “Pretty much, I am just ready to do this, I feel really good, I am ready to do this.”
Their hotly anticipated comeback exhibition match takes place in California on 28 November.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
