Miley Cyrus has teased what fans should expect from her much-awaited upcoming appearance in Black Mirror.
The chart-topping singer previously hinted that she would be in a new episode of Black Mirror last year, which was finally confirmed earlier this month, when a new trailer gave us a first glimpse at Miley in character.
So far, we know she’s playing a pop singer named Ashley O, whose likeness becomes the inspiration for a doll named Ashley Too, in an episode titled Rachel, Jack And Ashley Too.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Miley has shed a little more light on what’s in store for viewers, revealing the episode is an allegory for the stories of “females in the music industry”.
She explained: “I understand everyone’s gone through this but I do think for females in the industry… it’s hard to be taken seriously.
“People assume that if you’re not wearing a body suit and singing pop music, why would anyone want to see you.”
Miley also said that, as is always the case with Black Mirror, it will also explore “the darkness of technology”, adding: “I love that.”
The upcoming fifth series of Black Mirror is compiled of three brand new episodes, one of which will also star Fleabag actor Andrew Scott as the driver of an Uber-like taxi firm.
This comes after the special episode Bandersnatch debuted at the end of last year, breaking new ground in that it allowed viewers to choose what played out on screen.
Black Mirror series five will debut on Netflix on Friday June 7.
