NatWest and Royal Bank Of Scotland (RBS) customers have experienced issues using the bank’s app and online banking services this morning, reporting problems from as early as 5AM.

Numerous users have shared screenshots of an error screen that states “Sorry, we are struggling to establish a connection with you” and urges customers to check their internet connections:

Oh the joys of NatWest banking.... app down. Tried deleting and re-adding, checking my connection... so frustrating. Finding it harder and harder to justify why I bank with #NatWest 😏 @NatWest_Help pic.twitter.com/RgQeoc8I33

@NatWest_Help The App & online banking are down. Do we have a time scale for it being resolved? pic.twitter.com/IcYUB4xBvw

Can't get into RBS online banking to pay some hefty bills. Anyone else not able to access their accounts by mobile app this morning. It’s blaming my internet connection even though I can browse the web no bother.

Despite what the error message states, the problem is at the banks’ end.

The issues mean customers cannot transfer money or make payments online but telephone banking and ATMs are still in operation.

At 7AM, NatWest posted a statement on Twitter, which read: “We’re aware of some issues on our Online and Mobile Banking services and are working hard to fix them.

“Telephone Banking and ATMs are available. Sorry and thanks for your patience.”

NatWest is a subsidiary of RBS, which also posted on Twitter to say it was “aware of some issues on our Digital and Mobile Banking services and working hard to fix them”.

“Sorry and thanks for your patience,” they added.

The glitch comes a day after some Barclays customers were left struggling to log in to their accounts due to a technical problem.
