Following the success of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Netflix has announced a new interactive project featuring Bear Grylls.
The adventurer will take centre stage in You vs Wild, but as the title suggests, Bear won’t be in charge of what happens – you will.
An interactive trailer (which you can see above) for the series was revealed on Monday afternoon and gives little away, apart from the fact it’ll air from 10 April and Bear’s fate will seemingly be in the audience’s hands.
Variety subsequently reported that there will be eight episodes of You vs. Wild, with each seeing Bear go on a different expedition.
Viewers will be allowed to make a variety of choices along the way, with each affecting the story of the episode.
“I’m about embark on one my most epic adventures” he says in the trailer. “And this time, you’re going to be in charge so get packing and get ready, because every decision is your decision.
“You’re going to dictate what I’m going to do.”
Sharing the trailer on Twitter, Bear added: “My survival is in your hands and the stakes have never been this high.
“Answer the call, if you’re up for the challenge.”
In an official statement, he added: “I’m so proud to deliver this first-of-its-kind live-action interactive series, really giving viewers an all access pass to explore the world and its landscapes in my boots.”
The project comes three months after the release of Bandersnatch, the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Black Mirror episode which enthralled critics and TV fans over Christmas.
Netflix has also experimented with interactive episodes of children’s TV shows, including a Minecraft adventure which debuted on the streaming service in November last year.
