In what feels like a lifetime ago, we were lucky enough to gain behind-the-scenes access to the latest video shoot of anti-folk megababe, Erin K. After many months of glorious creative tinkering, the final product is buffered, shined and positively sparkling- and we're absolutely delighted to share it with you. 'Your Face' is the latest charming ditty to emerge from the imagination of the pink-haired beauty, and we can't get enough of its nostalgic warmth and soaring melodies. Filmed at the Rivoli Ballroom in Southeast London, the final video bears a suitably glamorous and stylishly vintage setting to frame her story of past lives and loving memories. Despite being released later than initially expected, the glossy finish to the creative vision of this song comes at a perfect time for the new NYC resident as she continues to enchant new music fans the world over. Next stop- an ENORMOUS tour of Italy that will take up most of November and December for the guitar-wielding stunner. Lucy Mason- Sirens
Australian-born singer-songwriter Lucy Mason has been fully adopted by us Brits and we're happy to have her as one of our own Emerging superstars. Her life so far has been a pretty hectic one to say the least- with plenty of to-ing and fro-ing between the UK and the land down under seeing her home uprooted more than most people will ever experience. But it didn't matter where she was in the world- Lucy was always happy when she had her music to turn to. It's been her greatest passion since she first got her hands on her own guitar in her early teens, and this long-term love affair is something that brings a real authenticity to every song she writes. Having finally chosen London to be the place to settle down, Lucy has become a firm favourite on the capital's gigging scene. Influenced by acts like No Doubt, The Cranberries and Smashing Pumpkins, her strong yet soulful sound delivers a polished performance with an edge. 'Sirens' is a stunning alt-pop treat, forming a strong identity of her own amongst the chart-friendly melodies and Cocteau Twins-style instrumentals. Fans of Foxes and Lana Del Rey should probably check this lady out...
Oli Wennink- Death Row Lover
The multi-talented singer, songwriter, composer and pianist Oli Wennink is one of our most memorable discoveries of late. Hailing from Brixton, this fella has been building his profile on London's scene as one of the most beguiling and intriguing performers out there right now. Sat behind those keys, Oli is capable of creating an atmosphere in which every spectator almost loses their breath, afraid to be the cause of anything that'll break the spell. We appreciate that sounds as cheesy and cliché as you like, but that really doesn't matter when it's completely true. 'Death Row Lover' is an utterly sublime offering from his 'Interior' EP, a heartbreaking portrait of an ill-fated love told with the stunning simplicity of a moving vocal performance and gorgeous piano melody. It's like a song an early-naughties Chris Martin would wish he could have written. Bearing the storytelling ability of Frank Turner, the emotive power of Antony & The Johnsons, and the potential for the legendary status of Jeff Buckley, this is a guy you need to discover sooner rather than later.
