Niall Horan has torn into health secretary Matt Hancock in a blistering tweet, and his fans are loving it.
On Thursday afternoon, the former One Direction singer blasted Hancock about the advice he has given the UK public, following the government’s decision to slowly ease lockdown restrictions earlier this week.
“I get the idea that Health secretary Matt Hancock thinks he’s a lot more intelligent than he actually is,” Niall wrote. “Always very smug and slippery.”
The Irish star added: “Excuse me but Matt you’ve had a major howler here and it’s about time you handed facts out instead of worrying about what the opposition thinks.”
Shortly after sharing his post, Niall won praise from many on social media for speaking out about the crisis:
And even though not all of the Directioners in his mentions understood exactly what he was talking about, they clearly enjoyed his message all the same:
Although best known for his music career, Niall has actually been known to fire off a political tweet or Instagram post from time to time, recently sharing a selfie that he claimed was his face “when I see that Matt Hancock on TV”.
He’s also taken aim at Donald Trump, particularly relating to the US president’s comments about climate change, and spoke out about the Irish referendum on abortion back in May 2018.
Niall released his second solo album Heartbreak Weather earlier this year, earning him his first number one in the UK.
A tour in support of the release had been planned, though has been cancelled as a result of the pandemic.
