Nicki Minaj has broken her silence following reports that she and Cardi B were involved in an altercation over the weekend, letting rip at the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper.
Over the weekend, Nicki and Cardi’s feud was reported to have taken a physical turn, with the latter allegedly taking off her shoe and throwing it at her rap rival at a New York Fashion Week event.
Sharing her side of the story on her Beats 1 radio show, Nicki has admitted she was “mortified” by the incident, while laying into Cardi B.
She said: “Let me just say this, the other night I was a part of something so mortifying and humiliating to go through in front of upper echelon... it’s upper echelon, people who who have their lives together.
“The way they passed by at this disgusting commotion I will never forget.”
Addressing Cardi’s claims that the incident broke out because the ‘Super Bass’ star had made disparaging comments about her parenting skills, Nicki said: “It’s so sad for someone to pin that on me, because I’m the bad guy and they know people would believe them.
“Let me go on record, I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting, I don’t give a shit, it’s so crazy to me that people always need to make Onika [Nicki’s real name] the bad guy.
“If you’re right in whatever you’re doing you never have to make anyone into the bad guy.. I am not a clown, that is clown shit, this is about, get this woman some fucking help.”
In the same episode of Queen Radio, Nicki suggested Cardi’s career was based on “sympathy” and “payola”.
After the incident, Cardi was photographed leaving the event with no shoes on and a visible bump on her forehead, while she later posted a thinly-veiled Instagram message seemingly aimed at Nicki.
Cardi B and Nicki’s beef dates back to when they were both featured on the Migos track ‘Motor Sport’, and Cardi claimed Nicki’s verse was different to the one she initially recorded, which some took as an implication she re-recorded her lines to not be outshone.
The two appeared to have patched things up when they were photographed together at the Met Gala in May, but in the lead-up to Nicki’s new album ‘Queen’, she made several comments which were perceived to be digs at Cardi, seemingly reigniting the feud.
