‘Orange Is The New Black’ fans are set to say goodbye to the ladies of Lichfield.
The hugely successful Netflix series will be coming to an end after the seventh season in 2019.
In a video posted on the shows official Twitter account, all of the main cast members announced the news before they thanked their fans.
‘OITNB’ debuted in 2013 and has been praised for tackling many social issues around the normalisation of prisoners, race, gender and body types.
It is based on Piper Kerman’s 2010 memoir called ‘Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A Women’s Prison’ and is set in the fictional low level security facility, Litchfield Prison.
After it first aired, the show quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest hits of all time, and has gone on to win four Emmys.
Another of the streaming service’s most successful series, ‘House Of Cards’, is also entering its final season at the end of this year.
Netflix continues to rise, though, recently announcing they had gained seven million new subscribers since September, meaning they now have more than 137 million customers worldwide.
Season seven of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ is expected to be released next summer.
