Oscar Pistorius has been treated at a private hospital after sustaining injuries in prison.
The disgraced Paralympian was taken to Kalafong Hospital after he was injured in jail in Pretoria, where he is serving a six-year sentence for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
According to Singabakho Nxumalo, a spokesman for the correctional services department, Pistorius told officials that he suffered injuries after falling out of bed, according to the Associated Press.
The BBC reported that he suffered injuries to his wrists.
However, according to Sky News, a spokesman for the Department of Correctional Services said: “Oscar Pistorius denied speculations of a suicide attempt.
“As a policy principle we cannot further discuss a particular offender’s personal condition in the public domain.”
Pistorius has now been returned to prison after receiving treatment.
Last month, South African prosecutors said they would appeal Pistorius’ six-year jail sentence, saying it was too lenient.
The athlete, who was sentenced on 6 July, could be released on parole after three years.
Pistorius shot Steenkamp multiple times through a toilet door in his home in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, 2013.
Pistorius claimed that he killed her by mistake, thinking there was an intruder hiding in the bathroom.
Prosecutors said he shot her intentionally after an argument.
