After being the toast of awards season for all of 2019 so far, Richard E Grant’s Oscars night ended on a high, with the actor staying up for an impressive 29 hours.

The British actor was recognised for his work in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, and made sure he made the most of his first ever Academy Award nomination by staying up all night at an after-party following the main event.

Sharing footage of himself posing up a storm at the Vanity Fair after-party, he joked: “End of the #Oscars2019 ‘ride’. Going to sleep for 79 hours, having been awake for the last 29!!”

Throughout awards season, Richard has been a real delight, really making the most of the red carpet and making pals with his fellow nominees, but our favourite thing has been his love for Barbra Streisand, making no secret of his quest to meet her.

When Barbra made an appearance during the ceremony to introduce Best Picture nominee BlacKkKlansman, Richard delivered one of the stand-out moments of the night when he made no attempts to hide his excitement…

And we’re pleased to say that his dream of meeting her finally came true…

Don’t worry, he also shared a slightly less blurry photo later down the line, alongside his Can You Ever Forgive Me? co-star Melissa McCarthy…

Richard lost out on Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Oscars to Mahershala Ali, who was recognised for his work in Green Book, which also scooped Best Picture.

In the lead-up to the Oscars, Green Book had been among the more controversial and divisive nominees, so there was a considerable backlash when it was revealed to be among the big winners on the night.
