Peter Kay made a rare appearance on Radio 2 on Saturday and was on fine form as he shared a hilarious story with listeners.
The 47-year-old star has been largely out of the limelight since cancelling his 100-date stand-up tour in December 2017.
But he was back on the airwaves on Saturday morning when he put in an appearance on Cat Deeley’s radio debut - his first in eight months.
During his interview with the former SM:TV Live presenter, Peter shared a story about the time he went to see the Mamma Mia! Stage show in London’s West End.
“I went to watch Mamma Mia!, the stage version, and I loved it and I don’t want to ruin it, but she gets married at the end,” he explained.
“They go off into the moonlight to, [the song] I Have A Dream.
“So, I went back [stage] and the main girl, she said, ‘Lovely to meet you’ and I said, ’Congratulations!”
“And she said, ‘Why?’”
“I was mortified, I was so wrapped up in it, I said, ‘Congratulations on getting married!’
“It was so embarrassing. I nearly got her a gift card!”
Peter was the first guest on Cat’s show, which is one of a number of programmes which will fill the slot vacated by Graham Norton, before his replacement Claudia Winkleman takes over later this year.
