Piers Morgan has responded to Ant and Dec’s claim that he “keeps wriggling out of” appearing on I’m A Celebrity.
Earlier this week, Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid interviewed the presenting duo about I’m A Celebrity, asking them which celebs who are yet to appear on the reality series they’d like to see sign up.
“There is a guy who sits in this seat next to you who has said he would do it for a certain amount,” Dec said.
“Piers has said he would do it for a certain amount of money, which I think we could meet, but he keeps on wriggling out of it.”
Responding to this, Piers tweeted that he’d be up for appearing on the show – which requires celebrity contestants to tackle physical challenges, as well as tasks like sharing an enclosed space with insects and rats or eating various animal parts – if they shell out £5 million.
“£5 million & I’ll come and munch kangaroo testicles,” he tweeted. “Not a penny less.”
Since Piers’ tweet was sent out, bookmakers BoyleSports have slashed his odds of appearing on the upcoming series from 66/1 to 20/1.
When asked who they had their eye on for this year’s upcoming series, which will see Ant return to the show after a year out in 2018, Dec explained: “We have a list that we get every year and we add to it and subtract from it.
“On our list at the moment, one person we are tracking down this year is Richard Madeley.”
Ant also named Tim Westwood and former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer as names on their “endless” list of potential celebrity contestants.
Currently rumoured for this year’s series are Love Island finalist Maura Higgins, former X Factor winner Myles Stephenson and rugby star James Haskell.
