Pippa Middleton has given birth to her first child with her husband James Matthews.
The couple welcomed a baby boy weighing 8lb 9oz at 1.58pm on Monday 15 October. A spokesperson told Hello magazine: โEveryone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.โ
There was speculation Pippa had gone into labour after her husband was photographed arriving at the Lindo Wing of St. Maryโs Hospital with two overnight bags. Itโs the same wing her sister, Kate Middleton, gave birth to her three children.
Rumours surfaced in April 2018 that Pippa was pregnant, shortly before Kate Middleton gave birth to Prince Louis. She didnโt confirm the news until June 2018, when writing in her fitness column for Waitroseโs Weekend magazine.
She revealed she passed the first trimester without suffering morning sickness, unlike the Duchess of Cambridge, who experienced hyperemesis gravidarum at the start of all three of her pregnancies.
Middleton said she found keeping the news she was pregnant under wraps โhardโ and she would use her monthly column to keep readers up-to-date from now on. โI was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness. That meant I was able to carry [on] as normal and continue my sports,โ she wrote. โWho knows what the next few weeks have in store.โ
In her latest Waitrose column talking about the end of pregnancy, she wrote: โAs the final month nears and the bump grows prouder each day, movement is certainly getting more awkward. As a result, one of the biggest changes is that my lower body has tightened up. The knock-on effect is making my back and sacrum both uncomfortable and achy!โ
Pippa was last seen in public at Princess Eugenieโs wedding on Friday 12 October, wearing a dark green dress that accentuated her bump.
Pippa and James met in 2006 on the Caribbean island of St Barts. They got engaged in July 2016 and married in May 2017.
Congrats to the couple!
