This Police Force Uploads Pictures Of Their Cat And We're Loving It

Troop Cat Ed gets caught dozing on the job quite a lot.

An Australian police force has enlisted the help of a very unlikely new member to deal with an infestation in their stables.

New South Wales Police has hired an adorable little ginger cat called Ed to assist them in scaring some mice and rats away from their property, and he’s become an instant hit on social media too.

Ed was brought in to deal with a vermin problem in the Sydney Mounted Division’s stable where they house their horses, Sergeant Kylie Riddell told 702 ABC Sydney.

“We have troop horses here so we thought why not have a troop cat?” Sergeant Riddell added.

Ed was looking for a forever home after being adopted by an officer’s friend.

He hasn’t quite excelled at his new job though.

Riddell said he often likes to nap anywhere he can curl up, and he was even recorded kipping in a forklift while countless rats ran around behind him.

And Ed isn’t the only cute animal at work in New South Wales’ police department - they’ve also got some adorable dogs and a few horses too.
