A pregnant woman lost her baby after being kicked in the stomach in a “racially aggravated assault” in Buckinghamshire.
Thames Valley Police on Tuesday released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to regarding the attack in Milton Keynes and another assault where a man was hit on the head with a bottle.
The 34-year-old victim was in the Co-op on Water Eaton Road, Bletchley, on August 6, when police said she was approached by a man who “directed racial remarks at her”.
After following the woman to her car, police said the man then assaulted a second victim, a 40-year-old man, by hitting him over the head with a bag of ice and a bottle.
The man then kicked the woman in the torso, causing her to fall to the floor.
Investigating officer, PC Richard Armitage, said: “This racially aggravated assault had absolutely devastating consequences for the victim, who lost her baby as a result of the attack. Our thoughts are with her and her family at this incredibly difficult and sad time.”
The woman was taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital for treatment after the attack and has since been released.
The second victim sustained injuries to his head and was treated and later discharged from the same hospital.
Armitage said police want to speak to the man pictured as “he may have information which could help with the investigation”.
He urged anyone who recognises the man or has information about the assault to contact Thames Valley Police.
