Ranvir Singh has admitted she’s already had to be “put in her place” after having a “total meltdown” in rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing.

The Good Morning Britain presenter is currently gearing up for this weekend’s first live show, which will see her take to the floor with partner Giovanni Pernice.

However, it seems things haven’t exactly been going smoothly in practise.

In a chat with Giovanni on Tuesday’s GMB, Ranvir revealed: “I’m going have to be honest, I had a total meltdown. Giovanni put me in my place and just said, ‘Look, it says never give up’.

“It says ‘never give up’ on his arm. He was like, ‘That’s who I am’. I was like, ‘OK.’”

Ranvir revealed the pair have already “had a few moments” just days into their rehearsals together, but they have since made up after their disagreement.

She added: “We’ve had a few moments, haven’t we Giovanni? We got over our moments though.

“We had a 20 minute divorce, did Giovanni and I. We had 20 minutes apart and then it’s been plain sailing ever since.”

Professional dancer Giovanni appeared to be understanding of his celebrity partner, acknowledging how tough it can be coming into such a challenging show.

He said: “You’ve never done anything like this before, so coming in the training room and listening to somebody for hours repeating what you have to do - obviously that’s uncomfortable.

“Unfortunately that’s my job, to tell you what to do.”

Saturday’s launch episode of Strictly introduced us to the 12-strong line-up, and saw the celebrities meet their partners for the first time.

There was also a number of notable changes to fit in with coronavirus guidelines, including a socially distanced audience, individual judges’ desks and pre-recorded routines from the professional dancers.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.25pm on BBC One, while Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
