Rebecca Humphries' Statement About Seann Walsh Is Inspiring Women To Share Their Own Break-Up Stories

'This is the start of the rest of your life.'

Going through a breakup in the public eye is never easy, but women have come out in solidarity and support of actor Rebecca Humphries after she issued a statement about pictures of her boyfriend Seann Walsh kissing his ‘Strictly’ partner, Katya Jones.

In a message, posted to her Twitter feed, Humphries said that she decided to speak out because she wanted to control her own narrative and remind everyone she is not a “victim”.

She claimed that Walsh behaved in a “controlling” way towards her and called her a “pyscho” and “nuts” multiple times during their relationship, whenever she questioned what he might be doing.

After reading Humphries’ message, women started sharing their own inspiring breakup stories.

5 years after someone treated me in a similar way, making me feel worthless & that the problems in our relationship were all my fault, your dignified response, clarity and self respect are heart warming & reassuring. The cat is the ultimate winner here, and I bet she knows it 👍🏼

Well done! So brave to walk away. I married a cheat, only for him to do it to me again 3 months after we said ‘i do’ I quickly said goodbye, and started again. 6 years later, I’m still single - but never been happier!

Been there. I was 'psycho' and 'nuts' too, all the while the wool was pulled well over my eyes. Kudos for handling it with such grace - wish I had been as composed as you, but hey, my ex is fat and bald now so karma had my back #Strictly

So this is the start of the rest of your life. Been there. Walked away, two kids in tow, soul in a box. 6 years later, I’ve bought and done up a house, married a feminist man, got a job, been promoted in job, found yoga, found my self esteem and freed my soul. Don’t look back.

If a partner contests your sanity any time you question their behaviour, that’s a fucker. Had an ex who’d say ‘are you in crack?’ whenever I voiced concerns. It was, in retrospect, a textbook abusive relationship.

As soon as a guy turns it back around on you & aggressively calls you nuts 🥜... peg it, as it means your intuition is absolutely spot on ladies #gaslighting pic.twitter.com/i9Qu0su0za

Absolutely badass statement from @Beckshumps telling it how it is. Don't stay in a relationship when you're treated worse than the doormat & every question is returned with degrading abuse. Be kind to yourself & value what you have to offer, it's the best gift ever ❤️

From all the women who have ever been called crazy by a man about their first instincts which turn out to be true, thank you.

As well as sharing the great ways they decided to move in from their relationship.

When I got out of a situation like this, I went & spent my savings on a beautiful ring - every time I look at it I remember my self worth. Best thing I ever did. From one redhead to another - he ain’t sh*t. #girlpower

Love it! I went to the Clinique counter in a local dept store... and bought 16 products; one for every year my ex didn’t like me wearing make-up!

— Wendy Errington (@w_errington) October 9, 2018

And I bought a needlessly expensive Mulberry handbag. still makes me smile on the only 2 occasions a year I use it - it’s the weight of a baby elephant, a pricey one at that

And it seems people won’t be voting for Seann on Strictly anymore either.

Well done you and to think i voted for @seannwalsh it's not happening again, I want my daughters treated with respect, sadly he showed you none, this really is not the way to treat a lady at all, good luck in the future 😊
